First established as Merenda & Co., Southend initially focused on motor insurance. The branch have since developed their experience in the commercial and professional sectors, using leading insurers with competitive rates.
History and heritage
The Southend branch was originally known as Merenda & Co. back in 1966. It was founded by Rene Merenda, who previously worked as an underwriter for some years at Lloyd’s. Motor insurance was costly in those days and Rene introduced weekly instalments, making it more affordable for the people of Essex. The business was acquired by Clear in September 2023.
