What to do in the event of a claim?
As a Broker our advice will always be the most specific to your personal circumstances. However claims occur at all hours and many insurers have Helplines to provide advice and emergency assistance whenever needed.

Any incident that is likely to result in a claim should always be reported to your insurers at the earliest opportunity. This will ensure that your interests are always fully protected but will also help to avoid delays in your claim being dealt with promptly.

This is particularly important where another party is involved and may want to make a claim against you. Your insurers will be unable to deal with this on your behalf and defend you without knowing whether your were involved or not and the circumstances.

For Motor Insurance many insurers now provide freephone numbers to enable you to report incidents 24/7. This will be helpful as they will take a lot of the information on the phone and complete the claim form for you. Also with Comprehensive Motor Insurance they can arrange for your damaged car to be collected by an approved local repairer who in many cases provide a courtesy car for the duration of the repairs.

Most insurers have Claims Helplines the details of which you will find with your policy documents. You will find a list of most of the most commonly used numbers further down this section.

For most other policies we can provide the appropriate forms to report claims and losses to insurers. We can assist you with the completion of these and will let you know what other information may be needed by an insurer to get your claim agreed and costs approved.

We will also be able to discuss with you what can and can’t be claimed for and so determine how best to progress your claim to a prompt and satisfactory settlement.

This is one of the greatest advantages of having a broker. We are there to represent and help you. An insurer will always try to settle a claim swiftly and to your satisfaction. However their interests will conflict with yours. This is when we can protect your interests best. Ensuring that their actions and advices are in your best interests and what options and alternatives are available to you.
This, you will NOT get when you deal direct with insurers!!
